Producción de goma de huizache (Acacia farnesiana) en un jardín urbano de Delicias, Chihuahua

Abstract

The municipality of Delicias, Chihuahua decided to plant huizaches in gardens. This strategy allowed to be integrated into the Agenda 2030 focused in objective 11. An experiment was established with three ethephon treatments with ten repetitions. The variables were gum production, main trunk cutting height and cutting distance on the branches. The application of the hormone was from 50 cm from the ground and the cutting distance of the secondary branches was 15 cm from the main trunk. The cutting length was 2.5 cm and the depth was 0.5 cm. The overall average production of by treatment were: for the treatment of 10% =374.2 gr, treatment of 15% =115.8 gr and treatment of 20% =181.6 gr. The results obtained showed that the best treatment on average per tree was 10%. The plants showed no signs of external alteration. The protein content that is the emulsifier base of the gum indicated that the percentage of protein in the huizache gum was 5.09%and themesquitegum6.65%. Both were above the arabic gum 2.1%. By planting desert species such as huizache, apart from urban landscaping, products can be obtained to get economic resources for an ecological reinvestment of parks and gardens. There has been an identification people with the Chihuahua desert plant like huizache, so that it could allow the municipality of Delicias to be integrated into the ONU Agenda 2030 objective 11.
